Rumor:
Casey Folks @ Best in the Desert, Approached Parker asking to put on or
take over the Historic Parker 400... |
|
Response:
This rumor is just that and is far from the actual truth about what
happened... A group of movers and shakers in Parker got together looking
for a solution to help resolve numerous complaints and concerns about previous
Parker 400 events in an effort to insure that Parker, BLM and CRIT retained
the communities support for this very popular event... The determination
was made that they would approach Casey Folks @ BEST IN THE DESERT and ask
Casey to make a presentation to Parker... Casey initially declined the invitation,
and only agreed to visit Parker after repeated request from Parker's group
of movers & shakers... |
|
Rumor:
Shea Road was closed to spectators during the running of the
Parker 400 by BLM... |
|
Response:
Everyone fell victim to this rumor and were very upset with BLM for
the closure... However we just recently learned that this very popular area
was actually closed by Jay McKinley @ Whiplash... It is also our understanding
that BLM offered to supply the manpower needed to keep this popular area
open, but would require Whiplash to pay a minimal fee to cover the extra
manpower... (around $1,400-1,500.00) |
|
Rumor:
Whiplash has Parker & BLM's approval and all required permits
to run the Parker 400 in 2003... |
|
Response:
NOT EVEN TRUE... and we are very disappointed that a promoter would
send out such an announcement touting set dates, while knowing otherwise...
this type of misinformation only creates confusion and problems amongst
the racers and spectators...

of pure excitement... |
